For 119 years the Women’s Fellowship has served the St Stephen’s congregation by providing spiritual care through Bible study and fellowship, fundraising for the needs of the congregation and supporting many overseas mission projects.
Meetings Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month (except January) at 1.00pm in the Social Centre (and occasionally upstairs in the Chinese Chapel or the Lutheran Homes complex). These include welcome, Bible Study, guest speaker or another activity, business and information sharing, afternoon tea and fellowship.
Key activities involve:
Bible study – an integral portion of meetings
Fellowship – brings members closer together
Support for our congregation – purchase needed items
Support for Mission projects in Australia and overseas
Involvement in Lutheran Women of Australia (LWA) and Lutheran Women of South Australia and Northern Territory (LWSA/NT) annual Conventions and Fellowship Days; Inner-City World Day of Prayer services.
Other activities include:
Celebrating special birthdays
Fellowship lunch & lunch with Bethlehem Guilds
Advent Lunch for senior congregation members
Cake and cake-less fund-raising stalls
Funds raised throughout the year are used to support Mission projects in Australia and overseas through LWA and LWSA/NT; and our congregation’s requirements. St. Stephen’s Women’s Fellowship enjoys LWA and LWSA/NT membership. Through the SA Tidings newsletter and the Lutheran Women magazine, we are informed about the activities of other Lutheran Women’s groups.
